Arthur Zwane breaks silence on Chiefs exit

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has broken his silence after his surprising departure from the Soweto giants to join AmaZulu FC.

AmaZulu FC officially confirmed the appointment of Zwane as co-coach, following earlier reports from FARPost on Tuesday night.

Zwane will partner with Vusumuzi Vilakazi to replace the recently sacked Pablo Franco Martin and Aitor Van Den Brule.

Zwane, affectionately known as ‘10111,’ spent 24 years at Amakhosi before his departure. He and Vilakazi are tasked with turning around the fortunes of AmaZulu, who have struggled at the start of the new 2024/25 season. Usuthu lost all three of their opening league matches and currently sit at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table.

ARTHUR ZWANE’S WORDS AFTER KAIZER CHIEFS DEPARTURE

Zwane expressed his gratitude to the Glamour Boys’ hierarchy for believing in him all these years at Naturena. He went on to say how the club has shaped him in his coaching career.

“I would definitely like to extend my deepest gratitude to Dr [Kaizer] Motaung for the unwavering support. Also, his guidance and love throughout my Chiefs career as a player and a coach,” said Zwane.

“His belief in me has allowed me to grow from a player to a development coach and ultimately to the head coach.

“I am truly thankful for the opportunities the Club has provided. They have shaped not just my career but my life. So, thank you to Kaizer Chiefs and thank you to the Chairman.”

In his coaching career at Chiefs, Zwane served as an assistant to Vladimir Vermezovic from 2010 until 2012. He was then moved to Amakhosi’s development structures.

In 2020, Zwane made his way back to the first team. He worked with coaches like Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter, and Molefi Ntseki as their assistant coach.

Zwane was made the head coach of Chiefs back in June 2022. This came after the club’s faithful requested for his services with the hope of turning the club’s fortunes around.
