Morgan Gould compares Stellenbosch star to prime Rodney Ramagalela

Former Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United defender Morgan Gould has drawn a striking comparison between a Stellenbosch FC star and the legendary Rodney Ramagalela.

Ramagalela was a feared striker during his playing days, terrorising defenders with his goal-scoring ability. He played for a number of top-flight clubs, including Black Leopards, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Golden Arrows.

His final professional stint was with AmaTuks in the Motsepe Foundation Championship in 2023.

Stellenbosch FC’s current squad includes a talented group of attackers, such as Devin Titus, Andre De Jong, and Jayden Adams. These players have the potential to make a significant impact on the team’s success.

RAMAGALELA 2.0? GOULD SEES POTENTIAL IN STELLENBOSCH STAR

Gould, a retired centre-back, has drawn comparisons between Stellenbosch FC talisman Lehlohonolo Mojela and Ramagalela’s peak form.

Former TS Galaxy striker, Mojela, has been a revelation for Stellenbosch FC since his move to the Cape Winelands side ahead of the current season. The 28-year-old has hit the ground running, making an immediate impact at the club.

In nine matches across all competitions in the new 2024/25 season, Mojela has already netted six goals, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess. His impressive performances were on full display in the MTN8 final against Orlando Pirates, where he opened the scoring for Stellenbosch despite the eventual 3-1 defeat at a packed Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“That’s the new [Rodney] Ramagalela. Mojela is the new Rodney Ramagalela. He makes players and defenders feel uneasy,” Gould told FARPost.

“I always sit at home watching football and ask myself, “What is this guy doing? “This is what Ramagalela used to do to us. It’s so marvellous to watch him play for Stellenbosch; you know how the team plays.

“I see the boy doing well for Stellenbosch this season and beyond. The way he has settled in that team shows that he’s at a team that suits his playing style,” added the ex-Stellies defender.
