Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Mpheni Defenders FC have roped in former SuperSport United and Black Leopards striker Thabo Mongalo.
The side looks to continue with its impressive performances from the last campaign. Mpheni were crowned the SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League champions for the second consecutive time.
As a result, Mpheni qualified for the 2023/24 ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs held in Upington, Northern Cape.
Unfortunately, ‘The Bulls,’ as they are well known, were eliminated in the group stage, with their dream of gaining promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship reaching a premature end.

WHAT’S THABO MONGALO’S ROLE AT ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE SIDE MPHENI DEFENDERS?
Mongalo, a businessman specialising in construction and plant hire, has been appointed the chief scout of Mpheni Defenders.
The 40-year-old retired footballer brings vast experience, having also represented teams such as FC Aziz Kara and Platinum Stars.
“We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Thabo ‘Touch’ Mongalo as the Chief Scout of Mpheni Defenders FC,” read the club’s statement.
“The former Black Leopards, Supersport United, Platinum Stars and Bafana Bafana [now a businessman Construction and Plant Hire] will bring his wealth of experience in the football fraternity to Mpheni Defenders FC.
“As Mpheni Defenders FC we saw a need to bring ‘Mr Touch’ into the team to help with his experience to make sure that the team achieves its objectives.
“We warmly welcome [Mr Touch] to the bull’s family and we look forward to working with him.”
The 2024/25 Limpopo ABC Motsepe League season is set to resume on 12 October 2024.
Mpheni will kick off the campaign against Winners Park at home. The game will start at 15:00 at Rabali Stadium.
