Linda Mntambo shares thoughts on Sekhukhune’s signing of Kapinga and Mbule

Sekhukhune United captain Linda Mntambo has shared his thoughts on his club’s audacious move to sign Sipho Mbule and Lesedi Kapinga.

The ambitious club, Sekhukhune United, made audacious moves in the latest transfer window to secure Mbule’s services on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. They also pinned down the services of Kapinga after his exit from Orlando Pirates.

At Pirates, Kapinga failed to live upto the his biling, starting in only two games during his one season stay. That was after being starved of game time at Sundowns.

On the other hand, Mbule was lured on loan from Sundowns. The 26-year-old former SuperSport United star will spend the season at Babina Noko. The duo joined experienced midfielder Thabang Monare, who joined the club in June after being released by Pirates.

Skipper Mntambo is already feeling Mbule, Kapinga, and Monare’s impact as they aim to improve in all competitions in Sekhukhune colours.

“Those are exceptional players. I think they have done well in their careers. If you look at Kapinga, his time at Black Leopards.

“Sipho [Mbule], his development at SuperSport United and going on to be a key figure in SuperSport’s first team and then signed with Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Monare, he has done well for himself. He is a Bafana Bafana international, with a bronze medal from Bafana [in the 2023 AFCON].

“So those are big players; they know what is required of them, and they will surely strengthen our club. It’s not only them but the young players that have come from our DDC team. They are showing great improvement.

“We have a strong team, and you will be watching our games to see how we perform. But how we have started in the past four games that we played in Polokwane is impressive.

“The one week camp we had there not only produced good results but the team spirit we saw was good. Before that, we used to fight. But we need to understand each other as players so that we know our strengths and weaknesses,” Mntambo said.

MNTAMBO HEAPS PRAISE ON MONARE

Sekhukhune United have created a significant number of chances this season, and Mntambo attributes it to the new signings’ impact on the team. In addition, Mntambo took time to heap praise on veteran midfielder Monare.

“That shows you that we are doing good. Not so many of our games are live on TV. And that works to our advantage. Unlike if you are on TV, it’s easy for opponents to analyse what that you are doing consistently.

“As a team that is what we want to improve. Goals win your matches, and you can create anything that gives you goals. That is what we want. Look at the players that we brought into the team; they are attacking players. Sipho is an attacking player; he is the Master Chef and exceptional.

“Lesedi Kapinga is equally good. He is someone who can play in tight spaces. And Dash [Monare] not only does he bring his defensive qualities. He has a good energy. He is 35 years old and going into 36, which means he is taking good care of himself. That pushes young players, and it has a snowball effect on them,” he added.
