Bafana Bafana star Teboho Mokoena scored a brace as they demolished Congo Brazzaville with a 5-0 scoreline in their 2025 AFCON qualifier tie at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday night.

Bafana Bafana midfielder Themba Zwane made his 50th cap for Bafana Bafana when South Africa thrashed Congo Brazzaville in the CAF 2025 AFCON qualifier.

‘Mshishi’, as he is affectionately known, made his Bafana debut in 2014 when Bafana played out to a 1-1 draw against Australia away from home. He came off the bench in place of Ayanda Patosi.

TEBOHO MOKOENA SCORES BRACE AS SA RUN RIOT AGAINST CONGO

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena scored a brace for Mzansi in the first half, showing what he is made of.

Mokoena broke the deadlock in the 13th minute to put his nation in front. He added to the scoreline in the 27th minute to complete his brace.

His teammate Bathusi Aubaas joined the party as he scored the third goal for Hugo Broos’ charges in the 36th minute of the showdown.

Bafana did not stop there. Lyle Foster scored the fourth goal in the 52nd minute of the contest.

Masandawana star Iqraam Rayners did not want to be left out of the party, as he also found the back of the net in the 78th minute. He came off the bench to replace the injured Foster in the second stanza.

SECURITY ISSUES FORCED THE GAME TO BE STOPPED

The match between Bafana and Congo Brazzaville had to be temporarily stopped due to a pitch invasion.

This came after Mokoena scored his second goal of the day. The game stopped at the 28th minute. It took about 15 minutes for the game to restart after more security personnel were brought into the stadium.

It was electrifying vibes at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium as the fans came out in numbers to support their national team. Over 36 thousand fans came to witness Bafana humiliate Congo in Gqeberha.
