Chiefs’ Carling fixture against SuperSport rescheduled

Kaizer Chiefs’ Carling Knockout Cup clash against SuperSport United, originally slated for October 20th, has been rescheduled, while two other fixtures have had kickoff times changed.

The exciting showdown between Amakhosi and Matsatsantsa will now take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday 19 October, a day earlier than planned.

This change allows SuperSport United extra recovery time before their crucial league encounter against Orlando Pirates on Tuesday, October 22nd. This means they will host Amakhosi at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday before travelling to Orlando Stadium for their clash against the Buccaneers.

But that’s not the only change. Cape Town City’s match against Royal AM at Athlone Stadium, initially scheduled for a 3 PM kick-off on Saturday, October 19th, will now take place under the floodlights at 8 PM that same evening.

In another time swap, Polokwane City and Marumo Gallants will now face off at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium at 3 PM on Saturday, October 19th, instead of the originally planned 8 PM kick-off.

OTHER CARLING KNOCKOUT FIXTURES

Defending Carling champions Stellenbosch FC will be the first team to take the field as they aim to rebound from their recent MTN8 final defeat. Their Round of 16 match against AmaZulu FC is scheduled for Friday, October 18th at 7 PM at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Stellies will be eager to put the disappointment of their 3-1 loss to Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final behind them. They’ll be looking for a strong start in the Carling Knockout Cup as they face a wounded AmaZulu side.

Usuthu have lost all opening three matches of the Betway Premiership. Following the string of poor results, they fired head coach Pablo Franco Martin and brought in the duo of Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates, the MTN8 champions, will begin their Carling Knockout Cup campaign against newly promoted Betway Premiership side Magesi FC.

The match will take place at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, October 19th, with a 3 PM kick-off. The Buccaneers will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last season’s upset, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Richards Bay FC after a penalty shootout.

In another fixture, Mamelodi Sundowns will face Lamontville Golden Arrows at Lucas Moripe Stadium [6 PM]. TS Galaxy FC play host to Chippa United at Mbombela Stadium [3 PM]. Richards Bay FC and Sekhukhune United clash at King Zwelithini Stadium [5:30 PM].
