Thabo Nodada provides injury update, return date revealed

Cape Town City FC midfielder Thabo Nodada has opened up about his road to recovery after a lengthy injury he sustained last season and revealed when he is likely to return to action.

The 2023/24 campaign wasn’t great for the 29-year-old, as he was sidelined with a foot injury. He has been out for six months [April to October].

Before the setback, the talented midfielder had made 22 appearances in all competitions. He only found the back of the net once and grabbed one assist.

Nodada’s last match was a 0-0 stalemate against PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs in the league at the end of March. Since then, he’s yet to feature. Altogether, Nodada has missed 15 matches in all competitions for the Citizens.

WHAT THABO NODADA SAID ABOUT HIS INJURY SETBACK

Nodada says his injury took a toll on him psychologically as he couldn’t help his team anymore. He further revealed that he has recovered and will return after the international break.

The Capetonians’ first match after the international break will be a home match against Royal AM in the Carling Knockout Cup, Last 16. The encounter will be played on Saturday, 19 October at Athlone Stadium. Kickoff is at 3pm.

“Psychologically, at first it [the injury] was a hammer, but I got relaxed as time went on. I tried to think about, why the Lord made me go through this,” Nodada told FARPost.

“We [CT City] were looking to do big things, we were looking to finish much higher as we were already out of the Nedbank [Cup] and I got injured.

“It took a big toll, so big, we had played 22 [league] games and we won nine games. When I got injured, we were left with eight games to go.

“But I learnt a lot of valuable things [when I was injured] that I hope to bring to the field now that I’m back [recovered from injury]. I will be back on the field soon our fortunes will change.”
