AmaZulu FC co-coach Arthur Zwane has made a bold statement ahead of their upcoming clash against Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership.
Both AmaZulu and Buccaneers suffered disappointing first-round exits in the Carling Knockout Cup over the weekend.
Usuthu were defeated by Stellenbosch FC, while the Sea Robbers suffered a surprising loss to league newcomers Magesi FC.
Zwane, speaking after the defeat to Stellies, declared that AmaZulu will approach their upcoming matches with confidence and without fear.
He emphasised that the team is not intimidated by any opponent and believes they can beat anyone in the league.
ZWANE ON ORLANDO PIRATES CLASH – โWE CAN BEAT ANYONEโ
โWe want our players to play without fear, you canโt be in the Premier League and have fear to win games,โ said Zwane.
โWe can beat anyone. Stellenbosch, with the quality team that they have, last week they were playing the final and they did very well.
โWe gave them a thing or two to learn from us also. It wasnโt a walk in the park for them.
โWhen you look at where we come from and where we are right now, anyone could have said, โNo, Stellenbosch are through alreadyโ.
โAs much as they are through, they had to dig deep for them to go through to the next round.โ
Zwane also identified areas that require revisiting and improvement as they aim to swiftly turn things around at Usuthu.
โ10111โ ON WHERE USUTHU LOOK TO IMPROVE
โSo, there are no easy games in the PSL and we still have a lot to do in terms of trying to make sure that thereโs tactical flexibility in the squad, thereโs tactical understanding and tactical endurance.
โAll those things are going to help us. You just have seen today, our tactical endurance was fluctuating. Had we had sort of consistency in it, it would have paid off.
โBut yeah, like I said, we are not worried about opposition at the moment, we are worried about our squad. We want to get the best out of the players.โ
Ezimnyama Ngenkani will first tackle SuperSport United on Tuesday, 22 October at 7:30 PM before they welcome AmaZulu on Friday, 25 October at the same venue.
