Gavin Hunt sets record straight on Keagan Dolly and Sibusiso Vilakazi

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has set the record straight on free agents Keagan Dolly and Sibusiso Vilakazi who are training with his side.

Both players are currently unattached in the current 2024/25 Betway Premiership season after their contracts with their respective teams ended last season. This means they can sign for any team outside the transfer window

Dolly parted ways with the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs after a three-season stay at Naturena. Meanwhile, Vilakazi left Sekhukhune United, ending a one-and-a-half-season stint at the Polokwane-based outfit.

The duo were spotted at SuperSport’s training session on Thursday morning at Megawatt Park in Woodmead as the Tshwane side was gearing up to face Chiefs on Saturday in the league.

On the same day, the Swanky Boys announced the signing of Abubeker Nasir from Mamelodi Sundowns on a one-year deal.

The outspoken coach revealed that Dolly and Vilakazi were training with the club just to maintain their fitness. He further acknowledged the club’s policy of allowing free agents to come train with them.

He stated that there were no intentions to bring either of the players on board because of Matsatsantsa’s financial constraints.

“Financially, we’re not going to sign them. Those players [Keagan Dolly and Sibusiso Vilakazi] are training, there are not so many clubs that do that,” said Hunt.

“They have served the game well, our squad is so small, so they add numbers to make it seven vs seven. Otherwise, we’re five vs five in training and in small games.
