Micho’s wise words of wisdom to Pirates’ Jose Riveiro
Ex-Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojević has offered Jose Riveiro words of wisdom as the Soweto giants are tipped to halt Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance.
Micho, as Sredojević is affectionately known, is impressed by how Riveiro has turned the corner at the Buccaneers in recent seasons.
Under his watch, Pirates have been tipped to end Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance in the Betway Premiership. Sundowns have won the league title on seven occasions.
This season, the Soweto giants have enjoyed a flawless start to the season, winning all their four league matches. They have already won the MTN8 Cup.
On the other hand, Sundowns have maintained their winning momentum in the league, as they have also accounted for four wins in the Betway Premiership.

However, Pirates’ faithful believes this is the season for Ezimnyama Ngenkani to win the league, having finished as runners in previous seasons.
For them, their bright start is evident that Jose Riveiro’s charges will wrest the league title away from Sundowns.
Micho, who held fort at Pirates between 2017 and 2019, has advised Riveiro on areas to improve. “I am impressed by his work [Riveiro]. Pirates are my team. I always support them even after leaving the team,” Sredojević told FARPost.
“So far, they have shown the character of the giants that they are. For them, winning the league will not be an easy task. He [Riveiro] must know that Mamelodi Sundowns are still a powerhouse, although they are in a transition since the coaching changes [with Rulani Mokwena having left and Manqoba Mngqithi taking over as head coach].
“They are a force, but the idea is for them to push themselves to the limit. But I believe they have the key mentality to win anything.
“The team has all the requirements to be champions. But what is critical at the moment is for a coach to manage his players.
“That is the best way to win a league. At the moment, Sundowns are best at that. If Pirates manage to do that, they can be at the exact and same level.”
