Why Thabang Monare tips Thalente Mbatha for European move

Sekhukhune United midfielder Thabang Monare has made a bold prediction about the future of Orlando Pirates star Thalente Mbatha, hinting at a potential move abroad.

Mbatha has quickly become a fan favourite at Orlando Pirates, thanks to his impressive performances. The 24-year-old midfielder joined the club on a permanent deal in January 2024 after a successful loan spell from SuperSport United.

Since his arrival, Mbatha has been a key player for Pirates, contributing to their success both domestically and internationally. His standout performances have earned him a spot in the Bafana Bafana squad.

In the 2023/24 season, Mbatha played a crucial role in Pirates’ campaign, featuring in 21 matches and contributing one goal and two assists. This season, he has continued his strong form, making 11 appearances for the club.

‘MBATHA WILL BE IN EUROPE IN TWO YEARS TO COME,’ SAYS THABANG MONARE

Monare has predicted that Mbatha’s consistent performances could lead to a potential move to a European club within the next two years.

“He is a very, very good player. Unfortunately, we didn’t spend a lot of time together, but from what I have seen and what you are seeing as well, he is a top player,” Monare told FARPost.

“In about two years, he will probably be in Europe, given the way he is performing at Pirates and with the national team.”

WHAT THABANG MONARE TOLD THALENTE MBATHA DURING HIS STINT AT ORLANDO PIRATES

Monare, who has joined Sekhukhune after Pirates decided against renewing his contract, revealed what he told Mbatha during his stint at Bucs.

The duo spent about six months as teammates, with Mbatha joining Pirates in January 2024.

“I shared a changing room with him, and I told him all the information, and one piece of advice I gave him was to always work hard. Games are overrated, and training is underrated,” added Monare.

“So, what is more important is that you need to train properly. If you train properly every day, it will just come out nicely in a game.

“But, I think he has all the attributes of a good player. I would say he has everything that I would advise him on.”
