Neo Rapoo reacts to Hunt’s remarks: ‘He’s the best left-back in SA’
SuperSport United teenage sensation Neo Rapoo has responded to coach Gavin Hunt’s comment calling him ‘the best left-back in South Africa’.
This follows the 19-year-old’s excellent performances in his second season in the first team, which left his head coach, Hunt, very impressed and full of praise.
Hunt has endorsed young left-back Rapoo to achieve a successful football career and predicts that he could reach 100 caps for Bafana Bafana should he join the right team.
However, the ex-Kaizer Chiefs mentor has mentioned that he is reluctant to burden the youngster with too much pressure, but he is pleased with his displays following his recovery from a serious injury.
Rapoo was promoted to Matsatsantsa’s senior team in July 2022 from the SuperSport Reserve side.
In the current season, Rapoo has made seven appearances for the Tshwane-based outfit. Overall, he has featured in 14 games for Matsatsantsa since his promotion to the first team.
WHAT NEO RAPOO SAID ABOUT GAVIN HUNT’S REMARKS
In a recent interview with FARPost, Rapoo characterised Hunt’s remarks as inspiring, which will only fuel his determination to improve his game moving forward.
“Honestly, it’s a true blessing to have someone like coach Gavin [Hunt]. You know, he is a coach who has been in the game for quite some time. So, clearly, he knows what he has seen in me given his experience in the game,” Rapoo told this publication.
“For him to witness talent like this and to rate me as one of the best right-backs in South Africa, it’s a blessing, like I said before.
“So, I’m just going to keep on working hard and give my all at any time on the field because I can’t afford to disappoint him.”
The youngster aims to maintain his impressive performances in the current campaign even though his team has had a tough start to the season.
