‘Best player in their team’: Hunt on Chiefs youngster
SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has hailed a Kaizer Chiefs youngster, identifying them as the “best player” in Nasreddine Nabi’s team.
Hunt got the better of Amakhosi, triumphing 1-0 in the Betway Premiership at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.
This was a rebound after the Swanky Boys lost their previous two matches to both Orlando Pirates [league] and Chiefs [Carling Knockout Cup outing].
After the game, he was asked about Bilal Baloyi’s performance on the day. Hunt first spoke highly of Baloyi, who made his debut for Matsatsantsa last season in the second round against Orlando Pirates.
He likened him to Chiefs’ “magnificent” Rushwin Dortley, whom he feels is a rare talent.
GAVIN HUNT SAYS LEFT CENTRE-BACKS LIKE DORTLEY & BALOYI ARE RARE
“He [Baloyi], we played Pirates here last year, and I and I put him in on his made his debut. And I said he was magnificent last year,” said Hunt.
“We beat Pirates here 3. Was it 3? No. 3-1, and he was magnificent. And then we went to Africa, and he just got lost. And, you know, young players sometimes go like that, and then they go like that.
“We need to get them going, and he’s got so much to offer, you know, because of his left footer; he is like [Rushwin] Dortley in their team. I mean, Dortley is their best player.”
Meanwhile, Hunt believes the 20-year-old defender, Baloyi, has more to offer than what he has shown so far.
This was his second game in all competitions this season having last featured in SuperSport’s first match of the season against the Buccaneers in the MTN8 quarterfinal.
HUNT ON BILAL BALOYI: ‘HE’S MAGNIFICENT’
“You know? He’s magnificent. So, you know. Left-footed centre-backs. They’re like, you know, hands, teeth. You can’t find them,” he added.
“You know? So he’s he surely, he’s gotta step up a little bit more now for us because I think he can.”
