Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has commented on the impact of having academy graduates Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota on the team.
Mofokeng has been sensational, since his breakthrough in the Pirates first team towards the end of the 2022/23 season. As for Nkota, itโs his first campaign in the Betway Premiership and he has already made his presence felt.
On Friday, the two youngsters performed very well in a 2-1 victory againstย AmaZulu FC in the league. Mofokeng grabbed an assist, while Nkota, in his second start for the Soweto giants,ย scored a brace.
JOSE RIVEIRO SAYS NKOTA AND MOFOKENG ARE PLAYING BECAUSE OF THEIR HARD WORK

The Spanish mentor says Mofokeng and Nkota are playing because of their dedication, and they’re ready for the SA elite league. He further revealed that it’s so pleasing to have academy graduates in the first team.
โWeโre not in a club, in a team and in a space to think about next season or in the next six months,โ said Riveiro.
โWhen you see players on the field, it means theyโre ready to perform because weโre fighting for every three points, and at the same time, strategically, there are people working to make sure Pirates continue with the winning mentality.
โItโs important for our development and our academy to see players here in Orlando. Like I said many times, the players from your development give you something else that nobody can give you.
โItโs about identity, it’s about heart, it’s things you cannot buy on the market, so it’s important to always keep an eye on our own talent. Whenever weโre ready to give them an opportunity. Nothing comes for free in professional football, so we need to appreciate this moment, having players like Nkota or Relebohile on the field.
โIt is nice to see and it means a lot for the whole Orlando Pirates family, so the opportunity will be there for whoever is ready, itโs a message for every youngster who is around.โ
