What Sead Ramovic demands from Sphesihle Maduna
TS Galaxy’s new signing, Sphesihle Maduna, has explained what the club’s head coach, Sead Ramovic, demands from him.
Maduna signed with TS Galaxy at the start of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season on a free transfer. The KZN-born midfielder parted ways with Cape Town Spurs in the off-season before joining the Rockets.
The attacking midfielder was in the colours of CT Spurs in the second round of the 2023/24 season after joining them in the 2024 January transfer window.
Following the Urban Warriors’ relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Maduna left the club with just seven appearances under his name.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old has had a slow start to life at Galaxy after making the starting line-up just once and coming on as a second-half substitute on two occasions.
WHAT DID SPHESIHLE MADUNA SAY ABOUT SEAD RAMOVIC?
The highly-rated midfielder, who has seen limited game-time in the past two seasons at AmaZulu FC due to injuries, says Ramovic demands that he helps the team defensively.
“What the coach demands from me is to track back and defend because if you check most of the top players, even overseas, they attack and still be able to track back,” Maduna told FARPost.
“I have to cover some defensive positions because sometimes you’ll find that we were attacking and other players are out of position, so I have to come back and help defend.
“So I need to work hard so that I can adapt quickly in the team. The team plays a very high-intensity game, which differs from the teams I played for. TS Galaxy is a team that produces very good players who go on to join big clubs in the country. This is a team that will bring the best out of you.”
The Mpumalanga-based side has had a turbulent start to the new season after losing three matches and drawing one in their four league games this season. Galaxy are sitting 15th on the log standings with one point.
The Tim Sukazi-owned team will face Orlando Pirates in their next league encounter on Tuesday night at home in Mbombela. Kickoff is at 19:30.
