Zwane pinpoints AmaZulu’s area of improvement ahead of Chippa tie

AmaZulu FC co-coach Arthur Zwane has identified a key area of improvement for his side as the team prepares to face Chippa United in the Betway Premiership.

The two sides will lock horns on Tuesday, 29 October at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 7:30 pm.

This will be the third match for the new coaching duo of Zwane and Vilakazi, who were appointed to replace Pablo Franco Martin who was relieved of his duties following a three-match losing streak.

Under the new coaching staff, AmaZulu have suffered defeats to Stellenbosch in the Carling Knockout Cup and Orlando Pirates in the league.

As they seek to turn their fortunes around, Zwane emphasised the importance of tightening up their defensive structure.

He highlighted the need to limit the space afforded to opponents, particularly in the full-back positions, as seen in their previous match against the Buccaneers.

ZWANE ON WHAT SHOULD AMAZULU FIX AS THEY FACE CHIPPA

“Going into this game, we are trying to lift the morale. You know, we want to motivate the guys. We watched Chippa play,” said Zwane.

“Very aggressive team, very good team. Coach Kopo and Coach Thabo September are doing a great job.

“So it’s not going to be a walk in the park. We’re going to have to dig deep in order for us to grind the results, as we always say. What is important right now is for us to win this game.

“They are coming to us. We’re going to have to find or get a better approach as to how we’re going to exploit the space and also take our chances and also defend better.

“Because I think Orlando Pirates, we were left exposed, in both wing backs and right backs.

“They had so much space there. And I think we, at some point, we defended very, very well. So we can take all the positives where we defended very, very well, where we covered each other very well.

“And the rest defense was better organised. We can take all those positives and work on them so that we can be consistent, you know, when it comes to performing.”
