Larsen’s advice to ex-Chiefs duo Chirambadare & Sekgota ahead of Amakhosi tie

Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has shared invaluable advice with the former Kaizer Chiefs duo of Edmore Chirambadare and Kgaogelo Sekgota as they prepare to face their old club.

The two talented players, previously at Amakhosi, have found a new home at Magesi and would be eager to prove their worth against their former team. Larsen, known for his astute coaching skills, has been instrumental in guiding the duo.

Magesi FC, the plucky newcomers to the Betway Premiership, currently 12th-placed, will be hoping to replicate their recent heroics against Orlando Pirates. They knocked Pirates out of the Carling Knockout Cup with a shock 3-2 win.

Sekgota has been involved in five matches for Magesi, coming off the bench in three of them. The speedy winger is still searching for his first goal or assist at his new club.

On the other hand, Chirambadare has started two matches and scored a goal in the 3-2 win over Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup.

WHAT IS CLINTON LARSEN’S ADVICE TO CHIRAMBADARE & SEKGOTA

“The best advice that I can give players that are facing their former team is not to try and win the game on your own and prove a point,” Larsen told FARPost. “You’ll have the worst game of your life. All you need to do is focus on what we’ve worked on in training and use your teammates to shine.”

He believes in such matches “players who don’t lose the ball often have good games”. The former Golden Arrows mentor warns against trying too hard to impress.

“The harder you try to impress, the more mistakes you make. We give this advice to players all the time. Use your teammates because when the team looks good, the individual looks good.”

When deciding whether to start a player against their former club, Larsen considers various factors. Primarily, he assesses the player’s mindset and where they are in their career. Additionally, their current form and confidence level play significant roles in the decision-making process.
