Nabi applauds Chiefs’ character after Magesi’s comeback draw but…
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has applauded his side’s character after their 2-2 comeback draw against Magesi FC but discussed why there is a part of him that was not satisfied.
Amakhosi secured a vital point away in a match where they thought they had been handed their third defeat in the Betway Premiership.
Mduduzi Shabalala’s brace within two minutes helped Kaizer Chiefs stage a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down.
Nabi commended the improved “mentality and character” of his troops under his guidance.
However, he feels that alone is insufficient for a prestigious club like the Soweto giants. He believes they could have done more to walk away with maximum points.
NASREDDINE NABI FEELS CHIEFS COULD HAVE DONE BETTER TO SECURE THREE POINTS
“Yes, it’s true that we came from two goals behind which shows improvement in terms of mentality and character but that was not enough because we believe that we should have taken the three points today,” said Nabi.
“It’s obviously something that we have improved on, the character. But in this kind of game, with this kind of club, that’s not enough.
“We need to do more, and especially we need to do more at the beginning. When you have possession, you need to score when you have opportunities.”
Nabi further stated there were no positives to take from the encounter, especially because they didn’t come out victorious.
NABI TAKES NO POSITIVES FROM MAGESI CLASH
“Today [Wednesday] there’s nothing positive we’re talking because we believe we should have taken the three points.”
Amakhosi face Mamelodi Sundowns in a blockbuster Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal clash on Saturday, 2 October at the FNB Stadium as the two battle for a spot in the semifinal.
Meanwhile, their next league match will see them welcome Richards Bay FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
