AmaTuks claim crucial win over Durban City, Milford maintain impressive form
AmaTuks claimed a crucial win over Durban City FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Milford FC maintained their impressive form.
The Pretoria team defeated Durban City 1-0 at Chatsworth Stadium on Friday, thanks to a late strike by Luke Daniels. AmaTuks’ victory was their second successive after beating Hungry Lions FC at Tuks Stadium last weekend.
The Tlisane Motaung-coached team has had a challenging start to the 2024/25 season after winning three league matches, drawing four, and losing twice in nine matches played. They are currently sitting eighth on the league table with 13 points.
Elsewhere, Milford FC maintained their impressive form in the second-tier after beating Baroka FC 3-2 on Saturday at Global Stadium.
The hard-fought win against Bakgakga saw Milford open a three-point gap at the summit of the Motsepe Foundation log. So far, the KZN-based side has won six league matches, drew two and lost once.
Milford are currently occupying top position on the log standings with 20 points, and they are three points ahead of second-placed Black Leopards, who beat Cape Town Spurs 2-1 away from home.
JDR STARS COLLECT MAXIMUM POINTS AFTER BEATING PRETORIA CALLIES
Meanwhile, JDR Stars collected maximum points with a 1-0 win against Pretoria Callies at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve. The Hammer Boys returned to winning ways after losing against Highbury FC last weekend with a 1-0 scoreline. So far this season, Stars have collected 16 points after nine matches.
In addition, Upington City FC and Casric Stars played to an entertaining 2-2 draw at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium on Saturday.
Bafana Ba Gucci are sitting in fifth position on the log, while Casric Stars are seventh with 14 points after nine games.
