Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic resigns live on TV
TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has stepped down from his role, announcing the decision live on TV. He was speaking after his team’s 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch FC in which they came back from behind.
The decision comes after a disappointing start to the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season, with the Rockets securing a mere two points from their opening six matches.
Ramovic, who recently celebrated his 100th game in charge, expressed his gratitude for his time at the club but acknowledged the need for a fresh approach. “I’ve given my heart and soul to this club,” he said in a post-match interview. “It’s time for something new.”
SEAD RAMOVIC DEPARTS TS GALAXY AFTER SPENDING THREE YEARS WITH THE CLUB
The German tactician’s departure marks the end of a three-year tenure that saw him guide Galaxy to their highest-ever league finish and a memorable run in the Carling Black Label Cup. However, recent struggles and a failed move to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca appear to have taken their toll.
With the Rockets facing an uphill battle to climb the Betway Premiership table, the club will now turn its attention to appointing a new head coach to steer the ship.
Meanwhile, the Rockets were also eliminated from the semi-finals of the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup after losing 1-0 against Magesi FC.
In the current campaign, Ramovic struggled to maintain Galaxy’s top form which saw them finish sixth on the log standings last season. They collected 44 points in 30 matches having won 12 games, drew eight and lost 10 times.
The outspoken coach recently bemoaned the challenges of losing their best players to big clubs every season. In the past three seasons, the Mpumalanga-based side sold Melusi Buthelezi, Bathusi Aubaas, Given Msimango, Fiacre Ntwari, Lehlogonolo Mojela and Pogiso Sanoka.
The Tim Sukazi owned-team has seemingly felt the impact of losing their key players as they struggle to replace the departed players with the same quality.
