Durban City FC complete Ntsako Makhubela signing

FARPost has learnt that Durban City FC have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Ntsako Makhubela.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since parting ways with Richards Bay FC at the end of the previous season.

Makhubela’s stint at the Natal Rich Boyz was brief, lasting less than four months after he joined the team in late March during the second half of the last season.

During his short stay, he played a significant role in assisting the club retain its status in the Betway Premiership.

Prior to the start of the campaign, it was speculated that he would continue his tenure at Richards Bay. However, he was one of a select group of players who eventually severed ties with the club.

NEW CHAPTER FOR NTSAKO MAKHUBELA AT DURBAN CITY

As previously reported by this website, Makhubela began training with Durban City in early October in the hope of securing a contract.

FARPost has been informed that the former Orlando Pirates man has put pen to paper after the club’s head coach Simo Dladla approved his signing.

It is noteworthy that the two have worked together in the past during their days at Real Kings before Makhubela made a switch to Lamontville Golden Arrows in 2019.

Dladla, who’s eyeing a promotion to the top-flight, will be hoping to leverage the experience of the skilful midfielder to elevate the newly-rebranded Durban City to the top-flight.

City were in the Premiership during their days as Maritzburg United and got relegated at the end of the 2022/23 season under Fadlu Davids.

To strengthen the team further, the Farouk Kadodia-owned side brought more experience by acquiring the services of the former Golden Arrows defender Siyavuya Ndlovu and the ex-Royal AM striker Ruzaigh Gamildien.

DURBAN CITY’S INCONSISTENT START

Dladla’s troops have had an inconsistent start to the campaign, securing victories in four matches, drawing three, and suffering defeats in two of their nine encounters.

As a result, they occupy the sixth position on the table with a total of 15 points.
