‘I was left surprised’: Donay Jansen on loan move
Kaizer Chiefs attacker Donay Jansen has opened up about his loan move to SuperSport United, expressing his surprise at the decision made by his parent club.
Jansen has revealed that he had not anticipated such a move but views this opportunity at SuperSport as a chance to prove himself and further develop his skills on the field.
The 21-year-old was promoted from Amakhosi’s reserve team at the end of last season after impressing in the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC]. He was handed his Chiefs debut in the senior team last campaign by then interim head coach Cavin Johnson.
In the current Amakhosi squad, there are youngsters like Mfundo Vilakazi, Samkelo Zwane, Wandile Duba and Mduduzi Shabalala. All these academy players have had their fair chance this season as new coach Nasreddine Nabi believes in youngsters.

The talented young Chiefs player expressed surprise at being loaned out, especially after signing a three-year contract at the start of the season. He was puzzled as other young players like Vilakazi, Duba, Shabalala, and Zwane remained with the team.
“Well, that came as a surprise to me. Firstly, I was excited to be on the first team, and then I went out on loan,” Jansen told FARPost.
“On the team, there are so many youngsters. They are all talented, and I’ve been watching them play well. I played with them as well. There are the likes of Mfundo, Duba, Samkelo, and Mdu.
“What I should focus on is working hard at training and during matches whenever I get a chance. I believe that this loan move is a good one for me. It would help me to grow as a player. Hopefully, the team [Chiefs] will see my potential.
“I believe the coach and the technical team want me to prove something in a different environment. I’ll always be ready to step up whenever I get a chance to play.
