Keagan Dolly spotted training with new club
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly has been spotted training with a new club as he continues his search for a new club.
The 31-year-old, who was released by Amakhosi at the end of last season, began training with TS Galaxy on Monday.
The Rockets, known for their youthful squad and frequent player turnover, could benefit from Dolly’s wealth of experience. The club recently parted company with Sead Ramovic and replaced him with Adnan Beganovic.
Beganovic is reportedly keen on adding Dolly to the squad, but the club is keen to assess his fitness before making a final decision. Dolly previously trained with SuperSport United, but the Tshwane side would not sign him.
Despite the club’s decision, Dolly continued training with Matsatsantsa to keep fit. Although hindered by injuries and frequent coaching changes, Dolly’s impact was undeniable in an underperforming Amakhosi side, as evidenced by his 14 goals and 11 assists in 67 matches.
WHY KEAGAN DOLLY COULD BE IMPORTANT FOR TS GALAXY
Ramovic has been instrumental in The Rockets’ transformation over the past three years. Last season, he guided them to a remarkable sixth-place finish. They also reached the final of the Carling Knockout Cup, losing to Stellenbosch FC.
However, this season has been challenging for him, with the team struggling to find form and suffering an early exit from the Carling Cup. In the league, they have played six games and are yet to pick a win. The two draws and four defeats leaves them at the basement of the table. They take on Sekhukhune United in their next match on 26 November at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Ramovic cited the immense challenge of rebuilding the team from scratch after losing key players like Given Msimango, Bathusi Aubaas, Melusi Buthelezi, Fiacre Ntwari, Pogiso Sanoka, Lehlohonolo Mojela, and Tshegofatso Nyama in recent seasons.
Given the loss of established players like Mojela, Dolly’s presence could significantly benefit the team, particularly in guiding young players such as Puso Dithejane. A fresh start could reignite the 31-year-old’s career, allowing him to showcase his talent without the weight of expectation.
The talented attacker has previously represented Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and French side Montpellier. His ability to score goals and create chances could be a valuable asset for any team in the Betway Premiership.
