Agent reveals what the future holds for a Sundowns goalie

Football agent Gary Cassisa has revealed what the future holds for Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has been in Masandawana’s books since August 2018. But he has often been restricted to the bench.

According to Transfermarkt, the third-choice keeper has only played 21 games for the club since joining from cross-town rivals SuperSport United.

This season, Pieterse has not played in all competitions, including the CAF Champions League, Betway Premiership, Carling Knockout Cup and the MTN8 Cup.

On the other hand, his main competitor, Ronwen Williams, has enjoyed a large chunk of game time for Manqoba Mngqithi’s side with Denis Onyango and Jody February also playing a few games.

Williams has played 13 matches across all competitions, keeping his stranglehold of the Sundowns number one jersey.

Due to Williams’ dominance, Pieterse, Denis Onyango and February find themselves stuck as benchwarmers at the serial PSL title winners.

WHAT REYAAD PIETERSE’S AGENT SAID

As such, Pieterse’s agent has revealed that they are mulling a loan move for the goalkeeper. Pieterse has previously played for Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United.

In an interview with FARPost, Cassisa said: “A move will be ideal for him for the purposes of game time, but it’s always tricky because the player has a family to feed.

“It’s more in the interests of survival. But that is definitely something we are considering, although it’s always tricky to move a player from Sundowns,” Cassia said.

Earlier this year, the goalie ruled out being frustrated by lack of game time. He said he is always ready to step up to the plate whenever he is called to do so.

In addition, he admitted that not playing can easily make one lose focus, but he has been banking on the need to take care of his family.

What the future holds for Pieterse remains to be seen, as his management is open to facilitating a move. Nevertheless, Pieterse acknowledges that the need to take care of his family is his core business.
