Aspiring ZIFA president calls out Peter Ndlovu ahead of elections

An aspiring Zimbabwe Football Association [ZIFA] president has called out Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Ndlovu ahead of the association’s elections.

The Zimbabwe Football Association has been operating under a Normalization Committee since FIFA lifted a ban that had been imposed in February 2022.

The Normalization Committee’s mandate ends on the 25th of January 2025. Their main task has been to create the elections roadmap and usher in a new leadership at the association.

As it ends, the election mode is in full swing, with candidates vying for different posts and already meeting with the electorate across the country.

Khama BIlliat’s boss at Yadah FC, Walter Magaya, is aiming for the association’s presidency post. Furthermore, former PSL star Benjani Mwaruwari is also aiming to be a board member.

WHAT THE ASPIRING ZIFA PRESIDENT SAID ABOUT PETER NDLOVU

One of the candidates who is vying for the presidency, Themba Mliswa, has called out Mamelodi Sundowns and Zimbabwe football legend Ndlovu to come out of his shell and help solve the country’s problems in football.

Due to his success on the field of play, the former Coventry City FC star is a fan favourite as they believe he can forge similar success as a football administrator.

In an interview with FARPost, Mliswa, who was spotted with Ndlovu in South Africa, said: “I am prepared to work with anyone. With his [Peter Ndlovu] experience as a footballer, he is valuable.

“I am waiting for the day he decides to submit his CV. If you ask me, those are the people that must form the backbone of the country’s football strategy.

“Personally, I am prepared to work with him. The football stakeholders need the support of the legends. Our task should be to get rid of opportunists. That is why the game is falling, because of those chancers.

“We need characters that can help bring back confidence in our main football association. That is the one lacking at the moment.”
