Tim Sukazi reacts to his election into PSL EXCO
Newly-elected PSL EXCO member Tim Sukazi says failure to take South African football to greater heights is not an option.
Sukazi is among the three new faces elected during the PSL Quadrennial General Meeting [QGM] held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Sandton on Wednesday.
The TS Galaxy boss is also joined by Richards Bay FC chairman Sifiso Biyela and Polokwane City FC boss Johhny Mogaladi, who are the other new members.
Kaizer Motaung, Mato Madlala, Dr Rejoice Simelani, Stanley Matthews, and chairman Irvin Khoza are the only members re-elected.
TIM SUKAZI HUMBLED AFTER BEING ELECTED AS NEW EXCO MEMBER
“For one, to be elected in the most democratic manner is the most humbling experience,” Sukazi said.
“It makes you realise the amount of trust that the league membership has bestowed on me. Mine is to come in and serve, to be honest.
“So it’s a responsibility that I accept with the utmost humility. Given what we know as South Africans, we are married and in love with our game. Failure for South African football is not an option.”
WHAT THE TS GALAXY BOSS SAYS ON CALLS FOR PSL SUCCESSION PLAN
“As the chairman [Khoza] has already stated, by the nature of things and through the process of governance, a person would be given this task through a democratic process as it has already happened,” added Sukazi.
“So you wouldn’t prescribe in any manner or form what you call the succession plan. But what we know is that the membership has spoken. The membership always has the opportunity to pronounce these types of things. They have done it now, and they will do it in the next four years.
“But it’s quite fulfilling, of course, when we see new young members being elected into the executive committee. The only hope we have is that they will also come up with young, fresh ideas, as the chairman has already indicated. I am no exception to such,” he added.
“Mine is to enhance the amount of good work that has already been done for a number of years by my predecessors.”
