Thabo Mnyamane details what his role at Sekhukhune entails

Former SuperSport United and AmaTuks star Thabo Mnyamane has detailed what his role in the Sekhukhune United technical team entails.

Mnyamane recently retired from professional football, bringing to an end a career that spanned over a decade in the PSL.

The left-footed attacker last played for the Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants in 2022 before suffering a severe injury setback.

In his successful career, Mnyamane also played for teams such as AmaTuks, SuperSport United, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC, and Marumo Gallants.

Mnyamane enjoyed a successful spell at SuperSport after winning the Nedbank Cup and two MTN8 trophies. At Matsatsantsa, the former Bafana Bafana international featured in over 70 matches, scored 21 goals and provided nine assists.

Following his retirement a few months ago at the age of 32, Mnyamane has was roped in as the Performance Analyst at Babina Noko.

The 32-year-old has now given an insight on his primary focus at Sekhukhune as they looking to build a competitive team.

“I’m a Performance Analyst and a set piece coach, so what that entails is that I analyse our team’s performance in terms of postmatch and training as well. We analyse what we need to improve, what to stop doing, our habits, patterns and stuff like that,” Mnyamane told FARPost.

“I also do opposition analysis on the opponents we are going to play over the weekend or in two weeks; I delve into that, get their footage, and check their trends and behaviour.

“With set pieces, in the modern game, they contribute to the 40% of goals per season. So I work on that as well, and so far, so good because it’s something I’m passionate about and still need to grow in it.”

Having already gained valuable experience coaching the University of Pretoria women’s team and the South Africa Under-20 national team, the retired footballer is poised for an exciting new chapter.

With an impressive career spanning 195 appearances, 42 goals, and 15 assists in the PSL, Mnyamane is well-equipped to make a significant impact in his coaching role.
