Azam clarifies Feisal Salum’s contract situation amidst Chiefs, Simba links
Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC have addressed the future of star midfielder Feisal Salum, who has been linked with a move to South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and rivals Simba SC.
Salum, who recently helped the Taifa Stars secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON set to be staged in Morocco, has been the subject of intense transfer speculation ahead of the January 2025 transfer window.
The former Young Africans midfielder enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 campaign, netting an impressive 19 goals.
With his former coach, Nasreddine Nabi, now at the helm of Chiefs, rumours of a reunion have circulated widely. Additionally, Simba SC, under the guidance of coach SA Fadlu Davids, have reportedly expressed interest in the talented 26-year-old.
However, Azam FC has officially addressed the speculation, providing clarity on Salum’s future.
WHAT AZAM FC SAID ABOUT FEISAL SALUM’S FUTURE
Azam spokesperson Hashim Ibwe definitively stated that no contact, whether formal or informal, has occurred between Chiefs or Simba and Azam FC regarding ‘Fei Toto’ – Salum.
“We can confirm that there have been no discussions between Kaizer Chiefs or any club and Azam FC regarding Feisal Salum,” Ibwe told FARPost. “He remains under contract with Azam FC and respects the club, which we appreciate.”
Ibwe further emphasised the club’s stance on the matter of transfer. The Azam representative also added that everyone at the club loved and appreciated Salum as he is one of the key players.
With Salum’s contract still active with Azam FC, it appears that any potential transfer to Chiefs or Simba will have to wait. Ibwe is confident Salum will stay on at the Chamazi Millionaires beyond this season.
He has been impressive in recent seasons, catching the eye of several clubs. His ability to control the midfield, create scoring opportunities and contribute defensively makes him an attractive option for many teams.
