Limpopo ABC Motsepe League marred by persistent refereeing issues
Yet another ABC Motsepe League match in the SAFA Limpopo region was prematurely ended over the weekend due to escalating officiating controversies.
The persistent issues with match officials continue to cast a shadow over the league, raising concerns about the integrity of the SA third division.
This comes after the match between Mohlabile United and Ngwaabe City Motors at the Jane Furse Artificial Stadium was abandoned after Mohlabile were awarded a penalty on Saturday afternoon.
When the game was stopped, City Motors, coached by former Baroka FC mentor Thoka Matsemela, was behind 1-0 to Mohlabile.
And as reported by FARPost, a match between Vondwe XI Bullets and Mpheni Defenders was abruptly halted just two minutes into the game due to what has been described as ‘dubious’ refereeing decisions.
This incident is merely the latest in a growing trend of abandoned matches across the country’s various ABC Motsepe League regions. Last weekend alone, two matches were called off in Mpumalanga and another in Gauteng, all due to similar officiating controversies.
As a result of these recurring issues, the league’s integrity is being questioned. All affected matches are set to undergo a thorough review process, as stipulated by the league’s regulations.
