Magesi receive heroes’ welcome after Carling Knockout triumph

Magesi FC, the newly crowned Carling Knockout Cup champions, were given a hero’s welcome as they paraded the trophy through the communities of Limpopo on Tuesday.

The Betway Premiership newcomers staged a fairytale run in the Carling competition, defeating football giants like Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns to claim their first major trophy in the Premier Division.

The highlight of their campaign was their 2-1 victory over Sundowns in the final, a match where they rallied from a goal down to secure a historic triumph at the Free State Stadium on Saturday night.

To celebrate their achievement, Magesi FC embarked on a trophy tour on Monday, starting with a visit to Kgabo Park, the birthplace of the club in 2009. The team, led by chairman Solly Makhubela and captain Elvis Chipezeze, also presented the trophy to Kgoshi Kgabo Moloto III at the Royal House in Moletjie.

Magesi then headed to Seshego, the biggest township in the province, before parading the trophy in the City.
