TS Galaxy coach delivers verdict on Keagan Dolly’s debut

TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has shared his thoughts on the debut performance of highly-rated midfielder Keagan Dolly.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star made his first appearance for the Rockets in their Betway Premiership tie against Sekhukhune United on Tuesday night in Polokwane.

The Rockets confirmed the signing of the experienced midfielder a week ago. He joins the Mpumalanga-based outfit on a free transfer following his departure from Amakhosi.

Dolly got a chance to make his debut for Galaxy when he came on as a second-half substitute. He replaced Dzenan Zajmovic in the 69th minute of the showdown against Babina Noko.

Galaxy went on to register their first win of the season when they beat Sekhukhune 3-1 at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium under the tutelage of Beganovic.

Beganovic was announced as Galaxy’s new coach a fortnight ago. He took over the coaching reins from Sead Ramovic, who resigned live on TV. Ramovic went on to join Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC a few days later.

TS GALAXY COACH ADNAN BEGANOVIC REACTS TO KEAGAN DOLLY’S DEBUT

Beganovic revealed that Dolly, although talented, is not yet fully fit and needs more time to reach peak physical condition. However, the coach is confident that once the midfielder regains his fitness, he will make a significant impact on the team.

The Galaxy coach further emphasised that Dolly is nearing match fitness and could soon be making his mark on the field.

“He is an amazing human being, first of all, and an amazing football player with the skills one needs to be a special player,” said Beganovic. “But he needs time to get fit and be able to play 90 minutes. However, I think in the future he will help us a lot.

“He is not far away from starting with games. But we need players like him; he knows how to play. For now, it’s just that he doesn’t have fitness.”

The Rockets will shift their focus to their next league game against Polokwane City FC, away from home, on Sunday, 1 December 2024.

The game will take place at the Old Peter Mokaba, with the kickoff set for 17:45.
