What’s next for former Chiefs star Khama Billiat?
Following the end of Zimbabwe’s 2024 PSL season, former Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat has shifted base to South Africa as speculation is rife over his future.
Billiat returned to Zimbabwe in February to join Yadah FC in Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
The return was ultimately meant to revive his career after failing to find a new club in the Betway Premiership. That was after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs in June 2023 after snubbing contract extension talks.
The 34-year-old surfaced at SuperSport United, but a deal failed to be struck. And he made the bold move to return to Zimbabwe to rekindle his career.
At Yadah FC, he signed a one-season contract, which came to an end when the 2024 season ended last weekend.
During the season, the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star turned out to be Yadah FC’s point of difference. He emerged as the club’s top goalscorer after notching 13 goals in 26 appearances. His contributions were, however, not enough to earn Yadah FC a spot in the top eight.
They ended the season in 11th position with 42 points in 34 matches. Most importantly, Billiat became the first Yadah FC player to be voted onto the Soccer Stars’ Calendar.

However, Billiat officially bid farewell to the club and is now a free agent ahead of the January transfer window.
Several clubs have already lined up with their offers for the former Chiefs talisman. Notably, Scottland FC, one of Zimbabwe’s newly-promoted teams, is vying for his services.
But they will have to shrug off stiff competition from two unnamed clubs from Tanzania that have made contact. Meanwhile, his management is believed to be pulling all stops to secure him a club in the Betway Premiership.
Where he will end remains to be seen. Crucially, Billiat returned to be a vital cog for The Warriors of Zimbabwe as they secured a spot at the 2025 AFCON finals. He scored a goal and provided an assist.
