ABC Motsepe League match halted after team uses sticks as corner flags
A bizarre incident marred the SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League over the weekend when a match between Maruleng Celtics and Selwane White Vultures was abandoned due to a dispute over corner flags.
This comes after Maruleng used sticks as makeshift corner flags, which was a violation of league regulations.
The opposition side, White Vultures, approached the match officials with the match commissioner to raise the issue of the corner flags and find a way forward.
The match was delayed when Maruleng assured to get the right corner flags, but disappointingly, incorrect flags were brought instead. As a result, the game was cancelled by the match officials when Maruleng did not adhere to the requirements for the right corner flags.
The number of abandoned matches in Limpopo continues to overshadow the integrity of the provincial amateur league week in and week out.
Meanwhile, Owen Da Gama‘s Vondwe XI Bullets have claimed the top spot in Limpopo’s Stream A following their 3-1 win over Winners Park on Saturday. The side has collected 14 points after seven matches.
