FARPost unpacks the Tanzanian international’s response to Crown Media journalist Almasi Pablo.
Salum, who recently helped Taifa Stars qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, has been the subject of intense transfer speculation ahead of the January 2025 window.
The former Young Africans star had a remarkable 2023/24 season, scoring 19 goals, and has already netted nine goals this season.
Rumours of a reunion have gained traction, as his former coach, Nasreddine Nabi, is now at the helm of the Chiefs. Additionally, Simba SC, under coach SA Fadlu Davids, has reportedly expressed interest in the 26-year-old.
However, Azam FC has reiterated that Salum is under contract and remains a crucial part of their plans.
WHAT FEISAL SALUM SAID ABOUT CHIEFS AND SIMBA
Pablo, a respected Tanzanian journalist, asked Feisal Salum in Kiswahili. “With two weeks remaining before the January transfer window opens, you’ve started trending on social media, linked with Simba and Kaizer Chiefs. What can you say about this?”
Salum responded cryptically, “I can’t speak on this matter.” When pressed further, Salum remained evasive. “Yes, but I can’t comment on this matter now.”
When asked about the likelihood of a move soon, the 26-year-old midfielder – Salum deflected. “Let’s move on to another question.”
Pablo persisted, asking if Salum believed he could play for Simba SC. Again, Salum declined to comment, stating: “Let’s move to another question. Some things can’t be spoken about here.”
Salum then changed the subject, suggesting, “I would love you to ask me about Azam FC.”
He concluded the interview by reiterating his stance. “I can’t speak about this matter. Let’s continue with other questions.”
