Govinder resigns as Casric coach due to medical reasons
Sundra Govinder has resigned as head coach of Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars due to medical reasons, FARPost has learnt.
Govinder has been in charge of the Mpumalanga outfit in the second-tier league since the past season.
He was linked with a move to Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants at the beginning of the season. But that move never materialised.
The former Kaizer Chiefs head of development was missing when the club lost 2-0 to Baroka FC in the Nedbank Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
He was also not on the bench when Stars beat Milford 1-0 away last month in a league tie. This publication has gathered that Govinder has been on sick leave.
Govinder recently underwent a medical procedure that will prevent him from fulfilling his coaching duties at the moment.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Casric Stars confirmed that Govinder tendered his resignation with immediate effect. Selaotse “Sly” Mosala and Hassan Falayajo will be the interim coaches while the club search for a new coach to take over.
