Khama Billiat speaks on his future after winning two awards
After receiving two awards in Zimbabwe, ex-Kaizer Chiefs talisman Khama Billiat has addressed his future, having seen off his time at Yadah FC.
Khama Billiat had a sterling season in the Zimbabwe Premier Division. This was his first season playing in his homeland.
He was named the second runner-up for the Player of the Season award at a glittering ceremony held in Harare. Billiat was also voted as the Fan’s Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, Walter Musona was crowned as the 2024 Player of the Season. Lynoth Chikuhwa of Highlanders FC was the first runner-up.
To cap the 2024 season, Billiat scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists. The 34-year-old only played 26 games throughout the season.
In the process, he accumulated one red card, as he missed eight games due to injury and suspension.
Moreso, his future has been a subject of speculation, with several clubs aiming to entice him to join them. Particularly, Sekhukhune United are targeting his services.
WHAT THE EX-CHIEFS STAR KHAMA BILLIAT SAID
His management is working around the clock to secure him a spot in the Betway Premiership. A return to Kaizer Chiefs cannot be ruled out as they face disciplinary problems with talisman Gaston Sirino.
After receiving his award, Billiat said: “Obviously, a lot is being said right now. And it’s natural for people to say things. But right now, I am focusing on improving myself and celebrating these wins. I will surely move, but the whereto has not yet been decided.
“I can’t really say much about the future, but all I can say is that something big will come. We are working on something.
“And obviously, the key thing is to value and celebrate the time we had at Yadah FC. I am getting all the attention because of that move to Yadah.
“So my next destination will be revealed in due time, but now I’m celebrating this success,” added Billiat.
Billiat’s return to Zimbabwe also coincided with his decision to come out of retirement and play for the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
He has since scored once for the nation, a goal that was helpful as The Warriors booked a spot at the 2025 AFCON set to be staged in Morocco.
For this season’s best eleven, Billiat was selected along with former Polokwane City FC star Musona.
Simba Bhora’s quartet of Isheanesu Mauchi. Webster Tafa, Blessing Moyo, and Tymon Machope were also part of the list.
Ex-Tshakuma Tsha Madzivandila goalkeeper Benard Donovan, Godknows Murwira and Kingsley Mureremba of Caps United made the cut to the list.
Dynamos’ Emmanuel Jalai is also part of the list. And the top goal-scorer Chikuhwa Lynoth of Highlanders FC completes the list.
