Galaxy, Gallants and Sekhukhune secure wins in the Betway Prem
It was a great day at the office for TS Galaxy, Marumo Gallants and Sekhukhune United as they secured wins in the Betway Premiership on Saturday.
Galaxy returned to winning ways after defeating AmaZulu FC 1-0 at Mbombela Stadium, as last time out, they drew 1-1 against Polokwane City FC. Talented youngster Puso Dithejane scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute.
The victory saw The Rockets’ new coach Adnan Beganovic still without a defeat. In the three matches he has been in charge of, Beganovic has registered two wins and a draw. As a result, Galaxy climbed to 11th on the log standings with nine points from nine outings.
On the other hand, for AmaZulu, it’s back to the drawing following a defeat on the road. Usuthu remained 14th after amassing six points from seven league matches.
GALLANTS FIGHT BACK AND COLLECT MAXIMUM POINTS AGAINST MAGESI FC
In another encounter, Marumo Gallants came from a goal down to defeat the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup Champions Magesi FC 3-1 at the Dr Molemela Stadium.
The visitors went in front in the 39th minute after Tshepo Kakora broke the deadlock. Gallants performed very well in the second half and were clinical in front of goal. Xola Mlambo, Phathutshedzo Nange and Kamohelo Mahlatsi were all on target for the hosts.
As a result, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa moved to 10th on the log with 10 points from eight matches, whilst Magesi are in the relegation zone, occupying the 15th place with six points from eight matches.
SEKHUKHUNE UNITED END TWO-MATCH LOSING STREAK
Sekhukhune United ended their two-match losing streak in the league as they edged Cape Town City FC 1-0 at the New Peter Mokaba. Attacker Keletso Makgalwa scored the only goal of the match on the hour mark from the penalty spot.
Following the victory, Babina Noko climbed to the top half of the table. The Polokwane-based side is seventh with 13 points from eight games. As for the Citizens, they find themselves in an unfamiliar position: 13th with eight points from eight matches.
