Lebitso names his Pirates pillar of strength during injury setback
Orlando Pirates star Thabiso Lebitso has singled out a teammate who was his pillar of strength during his injury setback.
Lebitso recently recovered from a long-term knee injury layoff he sustained last season.
The 32-year-old was injured towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign as Pirates successfully defended the Nedbank Cup after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1.
In the 2024/25 Betway Premiership, the former Chippa United player is yet to feature for the Sea Robbers. However, he has since recovered and he’s training hard to get back in the team.
The right-back will face stiff competition for a place in the starting line-up. In the right full back position, The Happy People also have Thabiso Monyane, Bandile Shandu and new signing Deano van Rooyen.
THABISO LEBITSO SAYS OLISA NDAH WAS THE ONE HELPING HIM WHEN HE WAS INJURED
Lebitso says Ndah is the one who was always checking up on him asking about his recovery from the knee injury. Now it’s the opposite as Ndah is the one injured now and Lebitso is taking care of Ndah. The Nigerian international was ruled out for the rest of the year in October.
“Olisa Ndah was not even injured but he was the one who was always asking, ‘I spoke to KK, [physiotherapist], I spoke to KK, he said you’re doing thing now, you are doing that now’,” Lebitso told PiratesTV.
“So he was there for me, and it means a lot to me. Now he’s the one who is injured, so its 50/50 knowing that we help each other. Now he need my support. I’m much better now I’m doing well, so he needs my support.
“It feels great to be back, I don’t want to lie, I’ve been willing to get back into the team. I’ve done well in the rehab stage.”
