Gift Links on target as Morena Ramoreboli remains unbeaten

SA attacker Gift Links continued his good form abroad, scoring a crucial goal for AGF Aarhus in the Danish Cup, while coach Morena Ramoreboli remained unbeaten with Jwaneng Galaxy in the Botswana Premier League.

Links netted the only goal of the match as Aarhus defeated Brondby IF 1-0 in the first leg of their Danish Cup quarter-final clash on Sunday night at the Ceres Park Arena.

The 26-year-old found the back of the net with a beautiful strike on the edge of the box in the 74th minute of the game at home. This was Gift Links’ fourth goal in 16 appearances across all competitions this season, adding to his impressive tally of three assists.

Meanwhile, Ramoreboli maintained his unbeaten streak with Jwaneng Galaxy, guiding them to a comfortable 3-0 victory over UF Santos away from home on Saturday. This result leaves the former Bafana Bafana COSAFA Cup coach with an impressive record of five wins and three draws in eight league matches, accumulating 18 points.

MOKWANA, CAMPBELL, TAU AND MAYO FAIL TO MAKE AN IMPRESSION

Percy Tau entered the game as a second-half substitute for Al Ahly on Saturday afternoon, coming on in the 63rd minute to a warm reception from the home crowd. However, the ‘Lion of Judah’ could not significantly impact the match as Al Ahly drew 0-0 with Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League at Orlando Stadium.

Former Sekhukhune United winger Elias Mokwana was in action for Esperance on Friday in the Champions League as they drew 0-0 against Angolan side G.D. Sagrada Esperança on the road. Mokwana started the match and played 81 minutes.

Shandre Campbell’s Club NXT registered their second consecutive win in the league on Friday at home, defeating RSCA Futures 3-0 at home. The 19-year-old winger started the match and played 85 minutes; however, he failed to make an impact.

Ex-Cape Town City FC forward Khanyisa Mayo featured for CR Belouizdad on Saturday evening in the Champions League as they edged Ivory Coast side Stade d’Abidjan 1-0. The Bafana Bafana international started the match and was taken off in stoppage time.

Meanwhile, SA coach Pitso Mosimane registered a 2-0 victory in the Iran Pro League on Saturday as Esteghlal defeated Foolad away from home. The win saw Mosimane’s side move to the top half of the table in eighth place with 14 points from 11 games.

On the other hand, Fadlu Davids of Simba SC suffered a 2-1 defeat in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday against Algerian side CS Constantine away from home.
