Mamelodi Sundowns legend gifted R2.6 million BMW

In a heartwarming gesture, a prominent businessman has gifted a Mamelodi Sundowns legend a brand-new 2024 BMW X6 valued at a staggering R2.6 million.

Peter Ndlovu, who spent four years at PSL giants Sundowns after rising to prominence in England with Coventry City FC, Birmingham City FC and Sheffield United, received the gift from Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

On Monday morning, the businessman took to social media to announce the generous gesture, acknowledging Ndlovu’s immense contribution to Zimbabwean football. The businessman praised Ndlovu as a legendary figure whose career epitomises the power of talent and hard work.

Ndlovu made history in 1992 by becoming the first African player to grace the English Premier League, a milestone that inspired generations of footballers.

Chivayo paid a heartfelt tribute to the Zimbabwean football icon, who currently works for Sundowns.

“THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME…Zimbabwe’s football history is INCOMPLETE without mentioning one player who pushed boundaries and showed the world that when talent meets hard work, MAGIC happens,” Chivayo wrote on his official Instagram page.

He highlighted Ndlovu’s journey from the humble streets of Makokoba in Bulawayo to becoming a global football sensation.

Chivayo also praised Ndlovu’s humility and professionalism. “I have always admired his exceptional ability to remain HUMBLE, professional and unassuming, even with such IMMENSE talent and being sought after by numerous PREMIER LEAGUE clubs.”

As a token of appreciation for Ndlovu’s contributions to Zimbabwean football, Chivayo gifted him the brand-new, top-of-the-range vehicle. “A quick 2,6 million rand /144 thousand USD well spent wholeheartedly on this LEGEND… This is a SMALL token of my appreciation for your OUTSTANDING contribution to the game of football and for INSPIRING generations of Zimbabwean soccer fans.”

Ndlovu was capped 81 times for his country and scored 37 goals. In 2004, he became the first captain to guide the Warriors to the AFCON.

Khama Billiat also extended his congratulations to Ndlovu on receiving the gifted car.

“Big congrats to The legend, Peter Ndlovu. You deserve this, and everything good that always comes your way,” he said on X [Twitter].
