Carling All-Star squad and line-up revealed

The Carling All-Star team, which will take on Carling Knockout Cup champions Magesi FC on Saturday at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, has been revealed.

Magesi, the Betway Premiership newcomers, shocked many as they beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout final last month in Bloemfontein.

They will now face an All-Star team that consists of players from various teams from the Betway Premiership as well as the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] sides.

The All-Star team won the inaugural Cup against Stellenbosch FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last season.

Jabulani Mokone of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mfundo Vilakazi are some of the youngsters who displayed their talent against Stellenbsosh. Vilakaizi scored and has since been promoted to the Amakhosi first ream.

WHO ARE THE PLAYERS THAT MADE INTO THE CARLING ALL-STAR TEAM THIS SEASON?

Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine will be the man in goals after receiving more than 63,000 votes. The back four consists of the Pirates’ pair of Mokone and Mbekezeli Mbokazi. Chiefs’ Aiden McCarthy will partner Mbokazi in central defence, with Sundowns’ left-back Asekho Tiwani completing the defence.

Gomolemo Kekana and Bathusi Aubaas, both from Mamelodi Sundowns, will marshal the midfield. Gaston Sirino of Kaizer Chiefs and Relebohile Mofokeng from Pirates will be on the wings. Ashley du Preez and Naledi Hlongwane will lead the attack for the side.
