Richards Bay claim KZN derby bragging rights, CT City edge Chippa United
Richards Bay FC claimed the bragging rights in the KZN derby against Golden Arrows, while Cape Town City FC edged Chippa United on Saturday.
The matches were a low-scoring affair after Cape Town City, Richards Bay, and SuperSport won with a 1-0 scoreline.
Bay collected maximum points with a 1-0 victory over Arrows at Mpumalanga Stadium in the Betway Premiership, thanks to a second-half goal by Lindokuhle Zikhali.
The Natal Rich Boys won their second match of the 2024/25 season following a dismal start to the campaign. The unpleasant run saw Richards part ways with head coach Brandon Truter over a fortnight ago.
Richards are currently sitting 15th on the log standings with eight points after 11 matches. They won two encounters, drew two and suffered defeats on seven occasions.
Elsewhere, Cape Town City edged Chippa United with a 1-0 scoreline at Buffalo City Stadium to end their winless run in the last two matches.
Before the victory against Chippa, the Citizens lost two matches in a row against Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United in the league.
Cape Town City currently occupies the 10th position with 14 points after 10 games. The Eric Tinker-coached team won three times in the league, drew twice and lost on four occasions.
CHIPPA UNITED REMAIN SIXTH ON THE LOG DESPITE DEFEAT TO CT CITY
On the other hand, Chippa United have had a promising start to the season as they sit sixth in the log standings. The Chilli Boys claimed four league victories, played two draws and lost five times in 10 outings.
In the last match on Saturday, SuperSport United beat Magesi FC 1-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium. Bradley Grobler scored the goal for SuperSport.
Matsatsantsa are unbeaten in their last two encounters after winning the last league match.
In their previous game, SuperSport collected all three points with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Richards Bay FC at King Zwelithini Stadium. The Tshwane-based side is fifth on the Premiership table with 15 points after 11 matches.
