Six Chiefs influential players sidelined for clash against Galaxy

Kaizer Chiefs will be without six of their key players who have been sidelined due to injuries when they face TS Galaxy on Monday.

‘Amakhosi’ will take on Galaxy in the only Betway Premiership match on Monday at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. They come into the match after a disappointing 2-0 loss to Polokwane City FC.

The Soweto giants are currently ninth on the Betway Premiership log after having collected 11 points from eight matches. They meet a Galaxy side that hasn’t lost since new coach Adnan Beganovic took over.

Beganovic took charge of three matches, winning two with one draw. The club has also jumped to 12th on the log after languishing in the bottom two since early in the season.

The club announced that players such as Gaston Sirino, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Brandon Petersen are among the players ruled out.

“Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi will be without six influential players for their upcoming Betway Premiership clash against TS Galaxy on Monday,” the club announced on Friday.

“The injured players include midfielders Edson Castillo, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Gaston Sirino, defenders Dillan Solomons and Bradley Cross, as well as goalkeeper Brandon Petersen.

“The players sustained their injuries in various matches but are expected to return to action soon,” they said.

“Despite these injury setbacks, Amakhosi are focused on preparing for the encounter and confident of delivering a strong performance.

“Coach Nabi’s charges will be seeking to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Polokwane City last weekend. TS Galaxy were victorious in their last league match.”

Meanwhile, Chiefs will welcome defender Reeve Frosler back from suspension after serving his two-match ban.
