CT Spurs winless streak hits 10, Durban City moves to the summit
Cape Town Spurs’ winless run in the Motsepe Foundation Championship stretched to 10 matches, while Durban City FC moved to the summit of the log standings.
CT Spurs suffered a 2-1 defeat against Pretoria Callies at TUT Stadium on Friday, 13 December 2024. This was Spurs’ eighth defeat in 14 league matches as they sit 14th on the table.
A slump has hit the Urban Warriors in the Motsepe Foundation since being relegated from the Betway Premiership at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Elsewhere, Durban City FC moved to the top of the log after beating another title-chaser, Milford FC, 2-1 in the KZN DDurerby at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.
City are occupying the top spot with 28 points after winning eight games, drawing two, and only losing twice in 14 outings.
Meanwhile, Baroka FC claimed a convincing 4-2 victory over Limpopo rivals Black Leopards at Global Stadium on Friday.
Bakgakga have won three successive matches in the second tier after sealing three points against Venda FC and Highbury FC before beating Leopards in the derby.
The Khurishi Mphahlele-owned team has been impressive in front of goals after scoring nine goals in their last three games.
Baroka are currently sitting fifth on the log with 22 points after 14 matches. They won six matches, drew four and lost four times.
CASRIC STARS AND KRUGER UNITED PLAY TO AN ENTERTAINING DRAW
Meanwhile, Casric Stars and Kruger United played an entertaining 2-2 draw at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Saturday. After their draw in the Mpumalanga Derby, Casric and Kruger United are occupying a sixth and seventh position on the table, respectively.
