How Chiefs could line up without six injured players vs TS Galaxy
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi faces a significant selection headache with six players sidelined due to injury as his side prepares to face TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership encounter at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Monday. Kick-off 15h30.
Attacking midfielder Gaston Sirino, goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, and left-back Bradley Cross, all starters in the recent loss to Polokwane City, are unavailable after sustaining injuries. They join Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Edson Castillo, and Dillan Solomons on the injury list.
Nabi will be eager to guide his team back to winning ways following the disappointing 2-0 defeat to Polokwane City last weekend. The result left the Soweto giants languishing in ninth place on the Betway Premiership log with 11 points from eight matches.
Interestingly, Chiefs face a Galaxy side that has remained unbeaten since the new coach, Adnan Beganovic, took over. Beganovic has overseen three matches since Sead Ramovic left, securing two victories and one draw.
WHAT CHANGES COULD NABI MAKE TO HIS STARTING LINEUP VS TS GALAXY?
With Petersen ruled out due to injury, Bruce Bvuma will likely be called upon to replace him between the sticks. Petersen has started the last three games while Fiacre Ntwari recovers from his injury.
Despite Ntwari’s return, the Amakhosi technical team may give Bvuma an opportunity to showcase his abilities, especially considering his impressive clean sheet record from last season.
Cross, the regular left-back, will likely be replaced by Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, who came on as his substitute against Polokwane. Reeve Frosler, returning from suspension, will join Rushwin Dortley and Miguel Inacio to form a four-man defence.
In midfield, Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa is expected to partner with captain Yusuf Maart and Mduduzi Shabalala. Pule Mmodi could occupy the left wing, while Wandile Duba will likely feature on the right. Ashley Du Preez is expected to spearhead the attack once again.
Predicted XI: Bvuma, Inacio, Dortley, Frosler, Ditlhokwe, Mthethwa, Maart, Shabalala, Mmodi, Duba, Du Preez
