Nasreddine Nabi reveals January transfer window wish

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed his January transfer window wish following an underwhelming start to the season. Chiefs played a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership encounter on Monday afternoon.

After nine league matches under Nabi, Amakhosi have a record of three wins, three draws, and three losses, leaving them ninth on the log.

In his post-match interview, the Tunisian mentor admitted that his charges didn’t start well. “We feel we didn’t start well,” Nabi told SuperSport TV. “In the first 15-20 minutes, we were losing the ball, and passes were misplaced. The opponent won all the duels.”

The former AS FAR Rabat and Young Africans SC coach said a few tactical changes saw them regain control of the match. Despite tactical adjustments, Chiefs struggled to capitalise on their chances.

“We tried to adjust the team tactically. We came back looking good, and we conceded from a set piece when we were starting to come back into the game with more control and commitment.

“In the second half, we tried to push forward. We’re missing opportunities to score. Ultimately, we tried everything to put more power and take risks.”

He acknowledged that the team is still some way off the standards expected of Chiefs.

WHAT IS NASREDDINE NABI’S JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW WISH?

Nabi said they would continue to “work hard” and “strengthen the team”. He highlighted the need for more diversity in the attacking department.

“We feel like up top, we have the same kinds of players, players who like to dribble, who want short spaces, but we lack a bit of power and players who can shoot and make decisions. It’s true that we need to get those kinds of players…,” he said.

He emphasised that the club had to bring in players at “the level of Kaizer Chiefs”. “The perfect gift for Christmas would be players that can strengthen the team. We feel that we’ll do everything we can with what we have to get better results.”
