TS Galaxy and Chiefs settle for 1-1 draw
TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs settled for a 1-1 draw in their Betway Premiership encounter at Mbombela Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Samukelo Kabini’s goal in the 35th minute of the showdown put ‘The Rockets’ in front. However, the goal wasn’t enough to earn Galaxy maximum points at home as Ranga Chivaviro equalised in the dying minutes of the game.
Below are some of the talking points from this clash.
NASREDDINE NABI MAKES THREE CHANGES IN KAIZER CHIEFS LINE-UP
Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi implemented three changes to his starting line-up that competed against Polokwane City FC last weekend.
The first change saw Bruce Bvuma starting between the sticks for the first time this campaign. This comes after the injury blow of goalkeeper Brandon Peterson when they faced Rise and Shine last week in Polokwane.
Reeve Frosler made his comeback after a two-match suspension, replacing the injured Gaston Sirino.
The Soweto giants made their third change at left-back, bringing in Thatayaone Ditlhokwe for Bradley Cross, who is recovering from his injury.
OTHER KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERS RULED OUT OF TODAY’S GAME
Amakhosi also came into this tie missing three other key players because of various injuries.
The three players who got injured are midfielders Edson Castillo and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, along with defender Dillan Solomons.
KAIZER CHIEFS NOT CLINICAL IN FRONT OF GOAL
Despite finding the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game, the Soweto giants were not clinical in front of goal as they found it difficult to break Galaxy’s back four. The hosts looked to be the brighter team, as they threatened the visitors more often.
Nabi’s boys required a touch of magic to stir things up and seize control of the match, yet it was not destined to happen but they will be relieved to have secured a point away from home.
KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYING FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2017 ON RECONCILIATION DAY
As per Opta Jabu statistics, this is the first occasion since 2017 that Chiefs are participating in a league match on Reconciliation Day. The Glamour Boys were undefeated in their last five matches played on December 16th, with four victories and one draw.
Furthermore, this marks only the eighth occasion in PSL history that Chiefs have played a league match on a Monday, which is their least frequent weekday for a game. In their previous seven matches held on a Monday, they achieved four victories, two draws, and one defeat.
ADNAN BEGANOVIC YET TO TASTE A DEFEAT WITH TS GALAXYÂ
Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic has not experienced a loss since taking over the coaching role from Sead Ramovic at the Mpumalanga-based team last month.
He has overseen five matches, successfully winning two and drawing three in the process.
