AmaZulu coach Zwane: ‘The only thing that worries me is…’

AmaZulu FC co-coach Arthur Zwane has revealed what remains a worrying factor about his side in spite of a solid performance in their last game.

Usuthu returned to winning ways this past weekend, defeating Royal AM 2-1 in the Betway Premiership clash at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Friday evening.

This was the third win for the KZN side under the guidance of the new joint leadership of Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

Zwane acknowledged the improvement of his side after a strong showing against Thwihli Thwahla. However, he felt they haven’t been “ruthless” enough in front of goal.

A major concern for ‘10111’ is Usuthu’s recent defensive lapses, conceding goals even in the matches they win. The team has only managed one clean sheet in six games under the new coaching duo.

WHAT CONCERNS ARTHUR ZWANE AT AMAZULU

“It is one thing [ruthlessness] that we need to improve on, that will be us being ruthless when the opposition are there for the taking,” said Zwane.

“And though it’s not a worrying factor. We always have a goal in us. I believe that we are a team that’s got a goal in every game.

“The only thing that worries me is how we concede goals. I remember even at halftime [against Royal AM], we reminded them the importance of making sure that we keep the clean-sheet.”

Zwane maintained that AmaZulu were the dominant team in their second-last game against TS Galaxy, despite the 1-0 defeat. He attributed the loss to costly defensive mistakes at the back that allowed the opponents to score.

ZWANE SAYS USUTHU DOMINATED PAST THREE MATCHES

“We can’t just say we won the game and we’re happy but while we conceded,” added Zwane.

“We had the opportunity to keep the clean-sheet in this game, we had the opportunity to keep the clean-sheet in Mbombela, the goal we conceded, it was given.

“The goal we conceded against Richards Bay, it was given. I don’t want to talk about other games but only these three games where we were total in control.

“Even in Mbombela, you must have seen the stats. We had better chances than that team.

“So, we’re trying to do our best to make sure that the team is in the right frame of mind and all the players know what’s at stake.”
