Pitso Mosimane drops major hint about his future
Having been linked with Egyptian giants Zamalek SC, veteran coach Pitso Mosimane has dropped a major hint about his future at Esteghlal FC.
Mosimane joined Esteghlal FC in October on a one-year contract having been unattached since parting ways with Abha Club at the end of last season.
As has been the norm, Mosimane breathed life into Esteghlal FC after their slow start to the 2024/25 Gulf Pro League.
The 60-year-old, who has previously coached Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, is brimming with confidence that The Capital Blues will rise to compete for the title if they keep the current trajectory.
Mosimane has coached four teams since he left Egyptian giants Al Ahly in 2022. And the three-time CAF Champions League winner has now dropped a major hint about his future amid speculation.
WHAT COACH PITSO MOSIMANE SAID ABOUT HIS FUTURE
The former Bafana Bafana is keen on staying put in Iran to help Esteghlal FC turn a corner in the Gulf Pro league. Mosimane said the club’s leadership has already engaged him regarding a contract extension but the details are yet to be revealed.
“I spoke to the club president. But we didn’t talk about the contract details but he said he would like us to renew the contract. He did ask me, we will see. I am here, I would like to stay. If the contract is on the table, we will talk.
“It’s not yet on the table but when it’s there I won’t take long to respond. I want to stay here and help the club. We can be a better team, they deserve. They play well, it’s not like before. I have no problem staying in Iran.
“I don’t have problems with social life, my problem is football related. Everyone was saying Iran is not the right place, sanctions and all that but I am good. I like it here,” Mosimane said.
