Dareen Keet’s special role at CT City revealed

Cape Town City FC midfielder Haashim Domingo has revealed the significant role played by veteran goalkeeper Darren Keet at the club.

The 35-year-old goalie has been guarding goals for CT City since July 2021 when he joined.

Keet has a wealth of experience having spent some time in the Belgian Pro League. In Belgium he played for Kortrijk and Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

At the moment, he is one of the senior players at CT City, and has been credited for playing a significant role in the team.

This season, the veteran shotstopper has played in 15 matches for the team in all competitions.

And he has conceded 14 goals, as CT City have not had a smooth start to the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

Nevertheless, the veteran goalkeeper, Keet is still standing tall like a colossus at the club.

WHAT DOMINGO SAID ABOUT THE VETERAN GOALKEEPER DAREEN KEET

In an interview with FARPost, midfielder Domingo opened up about Keet’s unvoiced role at the club.

“He is a player that has seen it all because he played in Europe and then came back. Keet also played for the national team. He was exceptional up to a commendable level.

“At Cape Town City FC, he plays a big role and you can notice if he is in the dressing room or not. He is vocal and is always the one to cheer us up when we are down.

“And he is a natural leader. He is the team’s cheerleader and everyone’s friend in the dressing room. And by being vocal, he is a straightforward man in terms of what he says when we are in the dressing room.

“Even coach Eric knows and acknowledges the part he plays as a goalkeeper and captain.

“Most importantly, as a team we need someone like him because he has the experience and what makes him special is his humility.

“Personally, I credit him for cheering me up and motivating me because I was low when we came here. Right now, I can safely say I am enjoying my football because of his help,” Domingo said.
